Back in the studio again

After week in sunny 72° South Carolina and Tennessee for vacation and clinky classic I was ready to get in the studio again and finish up some projects. And start a few more that Ive been wanting to do.

I also received in the mail the merit award for thunders portrait in resin for his performance versatility.

The rejoice to Western pleasure portrait horse is finished and will be heading to its surprised Owner for Christmas.

The mini lonestar in silver buckskin for Jan is nearly finished.

The park morgan with the new mane and tail is for me and will probably be silver buckskin as well.

The Haflinger classic Arab stallion head swap will be a braided pony and potentially an Andalusian

Commission opportunity

For January/February/March I have an opening or 2 and I have an excess of classic Haflinger mare bodies if anyone is looking for a custom (pretty much anything but leopard Appaloosa). Might be open to re-sculpting mane and/or tail on her too. Or if you want a different custom or resin done just let me know! Just need half down + plus prepping costs now and the rest upon completion!

Totillas anyone

Picked up the only one they had at the local tack store. The other I have was nicer so under primer he went. He will have some chrome yet. I was going to do another color as a show horse for myself but then I had an electrician out for work to restore power to my house so now he is a sales piece!

a new color!?!?

Saw some ref pix of silver buckskin and I had to try it! Its not too far away from the dunalino color so I figured I could pull it off. It started looking like a real nice smutty palomino or dunalino again but once I added the silvery areas it was back on track. When I searched around for more ref pix I found theres a bit of a range in color so I kept going with it and I love how hes turning out. This paloose cm happened to be up next for painting so thats who I experimented on :)

or maybe hes better as a smutty pally, either way Im happy with him.

Hacking up a Wintersong

is a lot of work, its not easy to get that tail off, theres a huge solid chunk o plastic under there and the mane isnt a whole lot of fun either, even when you remove the whole neck with it. But heres what 30 minutes of flying plastic bits and sweat will getcha. Now hes pretty rough yet, needs a bit more work on the back legs, the head and neck I just eyeballed and taped in place tho I think it looks pretty close to what I was going for. And his back needs work. The forelock will go, not sure about the ears yet. Somehow his head is so much more appealing and sweet now. I think its because you can see his eye.

He was inspired by Braymeres blog on Draft horse barrel racing but I think he will look good in a few other performance classes too (because I just have to!). Hes not going quite as all out extended as the ref pix, I wanted him a bit more versatile. I'm thinking short mane and possibly docked tail but depends on what breed I decide to do him as. Im not willing to remove all the feathers so he will have to be a clydesdale, vanner etc type.

Leftover parts!

More dark side

So Im sposed to be working on finishing up a few little things for BF sales and a commission delivery there but I was itchin to do another dark grey. Since the heatwave finally broke I got back into the studio a bit but was tired of handpainting eyes and hooves and chrome so I pulled out that CAM that I worked on a while back. She needed a bit more sanding but was nearly there so wallah!

I am getting close to finishing the dark grey tb commission as well as a sm cm drafter, cm AA twh resin and cm NL foal that I want to get done for sales pieces.
